If you register to become a We’re Green member, you will be required to provide a username, password, and an email address. If you post messages in our forums, your username will be visible to others. If you post messages to the forums, we may cite your username in our newsletter or in compilations of posts made widely available. Your password is not visible to anyone, including site administrators. It is saved in a database in an encrypted form. While offering some security, it is always possible that this database could be compromised by malicious users. You are urged, therefore, to use a password that would not give someone access to any of your other Internet uses.

Your email address will not be visible anyone other than the site administrators. Your email address is used to provide certain automatic notifications related to use of the forums, such as when someone has replied to a message you posted. You may elect to not receive such notifications. The site administrators may also use your email address to notify you of important administrative matters, such as pending termination of membership for inactivity or site downtime. You may not opt-out of such mailings, but we expect that they will be very infrequent. Your email address may also be used to send you our newsletter, if you elect to receive it when you register or any time thereafter. Your email address will not be sold or provided to third parties. Although We’re Green is user-supported, we do not solicit funds by individual email.

If you register to become a We’re Green member, you may provide personal information in your member's profile, such as your location and occupation. This information will be visible to other people. You may elect not to provide this information. This information is not used by the site administrators for any purposes.

If you use our forums, whether or not you register, a persistent cookie will be placed on your computer, unless you have cookies disabled in your browser. You may still browse the forums if you reject this cookie. This cookie is used to keep track of the last time you visited the forums. Depending on options you choose when you register or any time thereafter, a temporary session ID cookie may be saved on your computer and your username and encrypted password may be saved in a persistent cookie. These options are provided to enhance your use of the forums. Usage of cookies is not linked to any personally identifiable information. (A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user’s computer tied to information about the user.  Persistent cookies can be removed by following Help directions of your web browser.)

If you post messages to our forums, any personal information you include in your messages will be visible to anyone browsing the forums. Viewing of messages in the forums is not restricted to members.

If you donate to We’re Green, you may disclose personal information such as your name and address. We do not retain this information once the transaction is completed or use it for any other purposes.

If you register as a We’re Green member, you may change any of the information provided when you register, except your username, by editing your profile and options. You may request that your username be changed for good reason by contacting us. You may not terminate your own membership, but it will be terminated upon your request.

Though we make every effort to preserve your privacy, we may need to disclose personal information when required by law or otherwise necessary to comply with a current judicial proceeding, a court order or legal process served on our web site.

By using our web site, you consent to the collection and use of your information, as described in this policy. If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes on this page and post notice of the changes on our home page and in our forums, so that you are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances we disclose it.
